Congreso
This week, I attended the International Summer School on Sustainable Aquaculture in Alghero, Sardinia. This event, which is part of the AquaBioNets Project, brought together various aquaculture stakeholders to address the same topic: solutions for more sustainable aquaculture. I want to thank Fundación MUSOL for inviting Sociedad Española de Acuicultura to take part, and for giving me the chance to represent the society at an international meeting. I was also given the opportunity to give an oral presentation on how Spain is improving in terms of sustainable aquaculture, based on an analysis of the last 11 editions of the National Aquaculture Congress and the APROMAR Sustainability Reports. It was a really good experience, one that took me out of the lab and broadened my perspective, exposing me to sides of the sector I don’t usually see from the bench: industry, policy, project management. It was also absolutely enriching to share a space with people from different regions, fields, and points of view. I learned a lot about biodegradable and sustainable materials, sustainable aquaculture, digitalization, and cooperation between researchers, industry professionals, and other stakeholders. Thank you to the whole Aquabionets team for the fantastic organisation, wishing you continued success with the project.
